WINSTON-SALEM, NC : The weather might have been a little chilly, but John Holleman has been North Carolina summertime hot in the first few weeks at Bowman Gray Stadium. Holleman lined up on the outside of row #1 for the second 20 lap Sportsman feature this past Saturday night and used the horsepower under the hood of the Midway Mobile Storage Ford Mustang to take the lead of the race on lap 3.
The first caution flag waved a few laps later and that erased the straightaway lead that Holleman had built up on the battle for the second position.
Holleman then survived one more restart and another caution flag and cruised to the checkered flag to take his second win of the 2017 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sportsman season at the Stadium.
In the first 20 lap Sportsman Series race of the evening, Holleman started 15th and he had moved through most of the field on the outside before a slower car blocked his progress into the top five. He was kicked back to the back of the top ten before he was able to rebound forward for a seventh place result at the finish.
The win moved Holleman into a tie for the championship lead after four events in the 2017 season.
The next event is twin 20 lap Sportsman Series races on Saturday, May 13th back at Bowman Gray Stadium (NC) in the Midway Mobile Storage / SurplusContainers.net Ford Mustang.
