The first race of the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season took place on Sunday, February 15th, at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, Florida. North Carolina racer John Holleman IV entered the race looking for a strong run, but a brake issue sidelined his efforts, ending his race day in the 20th position.
Holleman started the 150-lap race is the 24th position, and logged laps throughout the event to try and learn the track and make his way up through the field. Avoiding a few on-track incidents, his brakes started to heat up, and late in the event they caught fire, forcing him to drive the No. 49 Midway Mobile Storage ride to pit road and out of the race. Despite only completing 132 laps, Holleman learned a lot about the car and the Florida track, and is optimistic heading into the next event.
Up next for Holleman is the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East “Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150” at Greenville Pickens Speedway in South Carolina on April 4th.
